The Untaught Doctrine: Election

by Pastor Don Elmore

Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:4-6

I was brought up as an Arminian; i.e. a man who chooses God.  I never heard the words election used in the Bible.  I could have read the words, but had no idea what it meant.  When I was about 21 years old, I read a religious newspaper that taught “Calvinism.”  They actually were proud and emphasized what John Calvin taught; and I was surprised to learn that is what most American churches taught and believed two centuries ago: the “TULIP doctrine”:

Total depravity
Unconditional election
Limited Atonement
Irresistible grace
Perseverance and preservation of the saints (Eternal security)

Compared with the Calvinistic five points is the Arminian position:

David's Family Life

Scripture Reading: Psalms 3:1-8

This Psalm was made when David was dethroned from being King of Israel by his own son--Absalom.  Absalom was David’s third son; so how did he get ahead of his brothers?  This story is all part of the bigger one—how David is different from all of the recent Presidents of our nation—the United States of America.

Introduction

In the beginning of my ministry, I gave messages which covered the entire Biblical career of David, the King of Israel.  These sermons lasted for about four or five years; intermingled along with other sermons.  After I preached about David, I spent a couple of years on the biblical history of Elijah.  Then I spent another couple of years preaching on Genesis 1-11.

As I was about half-way through giving these messages concerning King David, I thought of the following question:  Who would like to trade places with David?   In other words, who would like to live their life as David?

My Mother's Fatal Song

The Song My Mother Sang

I was born in 1942; my mother in 1913.  She would have turned 100 years old this year.  The Federal Reserve System went into effect in the last days of the year in which she came into this world.  What a sinful disaster this banking system has been!  But there was something else that happened the year that she was born and I want to tell you about it today.

I Have a Nightmare

Scripture Reading:  2 Peter 2:1-6

It’s been quite a week:  Fires in eight Western States that are burning in an uncontrollable manner—the judgment of God against the  United States for no longer keeping the Laws of God; the President of the United States trying to figure out what lies he can tell to convince the America people so that he can have the Armed Forces provide a military strike in Syria—another judgment of God against the United States for no longer keeping the Laws of God; and then honoring the speech of Martin Luther King, Jr. with a ceremony remembering what happened in this nation exactly fifty years ago; another judgment of God against the United States for no longer keeping the Laws of God.

I had another sermon prepared as I had a busy week, but I was so disgusted by the jewMedia that I had to comment on the event that happened fifty years ago.  The “Dream” speech given by the person who practically no one will call a Communist:  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Fifty years ago; I was 21 years old.  It was 1963. Michael King, Jr. went to Washington, D. C. and with the statue of Abraham Lincoln in the background gave the speech that many said changed the nation.  The majority now say that it changed the nation for good; but back then there were many who said that it changed it for evil.

Last week, there were 250,000 people who went to the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial and down the National Mall on Saturday, commemorating the 50th anniversary of his famous speech and pledging that his dream includes equality for gays, Latinos, the poor and the disabled.  For whom?  Gays, whose behavior our God says is an abomination to Him, are equal with a straight person?  Equal to whom?

The United States: The Background Information of How It Began;
The Battle Between the Two Seed Lines

When did the United States begin?  Was it “In fourteen hundred and ninety-two when [Christopher] Columbus sailed the ocean blue?”  Did he discover America?  Well, Columbus didn’t even set his foot on the land that became the United States of America.  He landed in four separate voyages in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Haiti, Puerto Rico (which eventually became an American territory), Cuba, and other islands in the Caribbean and in South America and Central America. So how did Christopher Columbus discover America when he never set “his big toe” on that continent that became the United States?

What Happened to America? Part 1

by Pastor Don Elmore

Scripture Reading: Matthew 13:24-30

The American way of life under the Articles of Confederation and later the Constitution, during America’s first ninety years of existence, had laws and traditions that, in today’s liberal culture, seem to be very strange.  In fact, most present-day Americans would be totally repulsed to live in such a politically incorrect society:  but it was a Christian based society.  How would you like to live in a nation in which:

Fishbein vs Hoxsey

Scripture Reading:  Psalms 104:14-15 “He causeth the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man:  that he may bring forth food out of the earth; And wine that maketh glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengtheth man’s heart.”

I must have been asleep when this battle took place, as I was alive when a lot of it happened.  It lasted for over 25 years and I still was not aware of it occurring.  It began before I was born, and it fought on when I was in elementary, middle, and high school.  It was a major case, and I didn’t learn of it until a couple of months ago.

The two men who fought against each other, Fishbein and Hoxsey, were from different stock. Harry Hoxsey

Fishbein was a jew and Hoxsey an Israelite.  Fishbein flunked anatomy class in college, never completed his internship class and was never a doctor—he never had any patients whatsoever.

Hoxsey only went to the eighth grade and then he dropped out of school.  He was a coal miner in Illinois, where his grandfather had been a farmer.  His grandfather had a stallion that was his favorite.  It got cancer in its right hoof, and the veterinarian said that it should be destroyed.  Instead, John Hoxsey, his grandfather, who was a Quaker, decided to let his favorite horse go into the pasture and enjoy his final days.

The horse began to go into one area of the pasture and ate certain herbs that he never had eaten before.  And as he did so, he surprisingly got better and better.  Soon the horse recovered completely and the tumor sloughed away.
