Why We Are Where We Are Part 5

The Wake-up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Why We Are Where We Are
Part 5

by Robert McCurry

Where we are

We are in an unprecedented place of biblically defined spiritual and moral disarray that eclipse the days of Sodom and Gomorrah and the days of Noah. Confusion reigns; ‘evil is called good and good evil; darkness is called light and light darkness; bitter is sweet, and sweet is bitter!’ (Isa 5:20). Sin has faded into obsolescence and ‘everyone does that which is right in their own eyes’ (Judges 21:25).

Politicians, pollsters and media talking heads are in vogue and present a completely different    scenario. ‘It’s the economy stupid’ is the most popular refrain of the moment. And every politician guarantees the same thing, ‘Elect me and I’ll solve the economic crisis and balance the budget.’ It won’t happen. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

While the economy is purported by many to be at the top of the ‘social crisis’ list, there is a plethora of other ‘social issues’ equally at the head of the list that are inundating America: abortion, cohabitation, crime, education, divorce, healthcare, homosexuality, immigration, interracial marriage, pornography, same-sex marriage, terrorism and violence.

Why we are where we are

We are where we are and in the mess we are in, first and foremost, because of the violation of the First Commandment, “Thou shalt have no other gods before me” (Ex 20:3). Man has continued to believe the same lie that Satan proffered to Eve in the Garden of Eden and she and Adam partook of what God had forbidden, believing that they would be equal with God Himself. Man has not ceased since that day to believe this lie. Thus, man has devised his own laws and eventually structured and ‘ordained’ his own national bible in 1787 entitled the ‘United States Constitution’ that brazenly declares, “WE THE PEOPLE of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” It sounds good but is impossible to do successfully apart from God and His Word.

Interestingly, the Bible, God, the Lord Jesus Christ or the Holy Spirit is not mentioned in this ‘We the People’ federal constitution. This, some say, does not negate the ‘Christian’ influence and intent of the founding fathers. Admittedly, Christianity dominated the religious thinking of the era and even court rulings reflected this. But the founding fathers posterity has continued to this day to disannul whatever ‘Christian intent’ the founding fathers may have had until the Bible, God, God’s law and Christianity are considered anathema by the courts.

A God-founded government is established on God and the Bible. A God-founded government will believe the Bible, honor and obey God and His law and refuse to legalize the murder of sixty million+ babies via abortion. A God-founded government will believe the Bible, honor and obey God and His law and refuse to legalize and protect homosexuality. A God-founded government will believe the Bible, honor and obey God and His law and refuse to legalize ‘same-sex marriage.’ A God-founded government will believe the Bible, honor and obey God and His law and refuse to legalize a ‘fraudulent economic system’ that make serfs of its citizens.

Obviously, in contrast to a God-founded government, this ‘We the People government’ not only approves, defends and promotes all of the above; it is vigorously and successfully pursuing an agenda to eradicate the Bible, God, God’s laws and Christianity at large from every arena of life as demonstrated by the escalating number of favorable pro-government court decisions, all under the guise of ‘Constitutional authority.’ The ‘new’ 1787 America sowed to the wind and is now reaping the whirlwind. This ‘We the People’ constitution has now come back to haunt us.

With few exceptions, pastors have been oblivious, indifferent and silent to all of this. Here are some examples of excuses for why they don’t say anything: ‘God is sovereign, whatever will be will be’; ‘I just preach the Gospel, the Bible is not concerned with social issues’; ‘Don’t worry, the rapture is imminent and we’re going to be taken out of here before things get too bad’; the list goes on … and on … and on.

I make no claim to being a prophet, but I, as a few others, was sounding the biblical alarm beginning in the 1960’s to ‘Prepare’ because these days were coming. We have arrived. The enemy is not coming, the enemy is here. Sadly, as it was in the days of Noah who warned the people of the coming flood, they believed not until the flood came and took them all way.

      Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
