Who are the Modern-Day Descendants of Esau? - Part 3

Scripture Reading:  Joshua 24:20:  “If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then He will turn and do you harm, and consume you, after He hath done you good.”

We are trying in this series to show who are the modern-day descendants of Esau. In fact, when I asked a Christian Zionist debater, who he thought the Jews said were the people descended from Esau, he answered, “He didn’t know and didn’t care.” I think that is the attitude of most people in the world today. He was unaware that the Jews say that the modern-day descendants of Esau are Rome, the Europeans, and Christians. And that would include him, wouldn’t it?

Look at what Burton L. Visotzky, Nathan and Janet Appleman Professor Emeritus of Midrash and interreligious studies surmise:

“In the world of the ancient Rabbis who gave us Judaism—the world of the Talmud and the Midrash, from the first century through the seventh century CE [AD]—our Rabbis identified Esau/Edom with the Roman Empire. In doing so, they took on both aspects of that Empire—the earlier pagan Roman Empire and the later Christian Roman Empire, and conflated them into one image of Esau, forever at odds with Jacob /Israel. For the Rabbis, Esau most often was depicted as the enemy, our oppressor, ‘The Man’ who kept us beneath his boot.’”

Western civilization shares the values and worldview of ancient Rome.

Genesis 36:43:

43) “Duke Magdiel, duke Iram: these be the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations in the land of their possession: he is Esau the father of the Edomites.”

“G‑d told Abraham that the Jewish people would be subjugated over the course of history by four kingdoms. The final subjugation, which immediately precedes the messianic age, will be under Rome. (Bereishit Raba 44:20) Our present exile is seen as an extension of the Roman subjugation, since culturally and legally western civilization shares the values and worldview of ancient Rome. It may be divided into two eras, Magdiel and Iram, both of which refer to Rome.” 

WHO DO WE SAY ARE THE DESCENDANTS OF ESAU?

We are of the opinion that the descendants of Jacob and Esau exist in the world today; in fact, they are one of the two major powers in the world. One of the descendants of the two twins are the ones our Savior said were liars, the sons of the devil, hypocrites and their destination was hell. And they didn’t take very kindly to those comments in the Bible. Which one were they? Rome? No. They were Edomite/Jews who were in Jerusalem with the descendants of Judah, Benjamin, and Levi. 

Look at what the modern-day descendants of Esau teach now. This is a quote from Ben Shapiro given on December 24, 2003, Why Christmas is Good for America, Part 1: 

“Unlike other religions, Judaism does not seek converts. Jews are required to discourage non-Jews from converting. Also, unlike other religions, Judaism does not bar the gates of heaven to non-members. Jewish thought says that God does not care only about the Jews – the billions of non-Jews worldwide have obligations to fulfill as well. While Jews are obligated to fulfill 613 commandments (mitzvot), Judaism says that non-Jews earn a place in the world to come (olam haba) by adhering to seven simple rules, known as the Noahide Laws.” 

For the first time in history, this November, (2026) the Brit Olam Noahide World Center will host the First International Congress of Noahides. This will be a meeting of non-Jews, who faithfully observe the Seven Laws of Noah that God has commanded them according to Jewish tradition. They are coming from six continents to Jerusalem for the formation of this newly structured religion. Its purpose will be to write a charter, start a rabbinic court, regional councils, and a financial infrastructure designed to sustain a global religious civilization (is this the one world religion?). 

What has this to do with the United States?  Do you remember this?

President Bush signing Public Law 102-268

“PUBLIC LAW 102-268—APR. 13,1992 Public Law 102-268 102d Congress Apr. 13, 1992 [H.J. Res. 410] Joint Resolution Designating April 14, 1992, as ‘Education and Sharing Day, U.S.A.’. Whereas Congress recognizes the historical tradition of ethical values and principles which are the basis of civilized society and upon which our great Nation, the United States of America, was founded; 

Whereas President George W. Bush, distinguished leader of our great Nation, stated “Ethical values are the foundation for civilized society. A society that fails to recognize or adhere to them cannot endure”; 

Whereas these ethical values and principles have been the cornerstone of society since the dawn of civilization when they were known as the Seven Noahide Laws;

Whereas the Government of the United States and its citizens are committed to the ideals of social equity and the right of each and every person to share in the bounty the world has to offer ideals deeply rooted in our Nation’s history and boldly affirmed by the miraculous changes of the past year; 

Whereas our Nation has recently witnessed the beginning triumph of these values through wonders around the world of biblical proportions; 

Whereas the end of the Cold War heralds the beginning of an era where individual rights end and human dignity becomes paramount and where the dream of a world in which material and spiritual deprivation is replaced by human kindness and compassion becomes a reality; 

Whereas the absolute necessity of mutual responsibility and concern for the needy has been of particular concern to ‘the Rebbe’, Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson [an anti-Christian Jew], leader of the Lubavitch [an anti-Christian] movement;

Whereas the Lubavitch [an anti-Christian] movement, through the establishment of over 1,000 social welfare and educational institutions throughout the world under the leadership of ‘the Rebbe’, has long supported and promoted dedication to education and selfless concern for others; 

Whereas Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson [an anti-Christian Jew] has recently issued a worldwide call for a revitalized dedication to loving kindness, charity, and sharing between man and his fellow man; 

Whereas Rabbi Menachem M. Schneerson [an anti-Christian Jew] is universally revered by all faiths, respected as spiritual leader of world Jewry [an anti-Christian religion], and his 90th birthday falls on April 14, 1992; 

Whereas in tribute to this great spiritual leader [an anti-Christ], ‘the Rebbe’, his birthday will be designated as ‘Education and Sharing Day U.S.A’ and this year, his 91st, will mark a new beginning in an age-old commitment to education, accompanied by an increase in general acts of sharing with another, in order to return the world to the moral and ethical values contained in the Seven Noahide Laws; and PUBLIC LAW 102-268—APR. 13, 1992 106 STAT. 103 

Whereas this will be reflected in an international scroll of honor signed by the President of the United States and other heads of state: Now, therefore, be it Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled. That April 14, 1992, the birthday and the start of the 91st year of Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson[an anti-Christian Jew], leader of the worldwide Lubavitch [an anti-Christian] movement, is designated as ‘Education and Sharing Day, U.S-A’. 

The President is requested to issue a proclamation calling upon the people of the United States to observe such day with appropriate ceremonies and activities. Approved April 13, 1992.”

The Lubavitch movement [an anti-Christian movement] is a major global Hasidic dynasty within Orthodox Judaism. Headquartered in Brooklyn, New York, it is renowned for its worldwide outreach. It operates thousands of centers globally that offer support to Jewish communities. It is basically a report on how to live without any involvement with Jesus Christ! It is like He does not exist. Kind of like psychology!

What are the Seven Noahide Laws?

1.  Not to worship idols
2.  Not to curse God
3.  Not to commit murder
4.  Not to commit sexual immorality
5.  Not to steal
6.  Not to eat flesh torn from a living animal
7.  Commandment to establish courts of justice

Who is guilty of the first Noahide law: worshipping idols? According to Jewish tradition, a person who worships Jesus would be seen as engaging in idolatry from a Noahide perspective, due to the worship of an entity other than God as understood in strict monotheistic terms. The punishment for non-Jews violating the Noahide laws is, in no uncertain terms, execution by decapitation in almost all cases. All of these laws are conditioned by the interpretations of Rabbinic Judaism, so Christian worship of Jesus and the Holy Spirit would be idolatry and punishable by death! 

CHRISTIANS UNITED FOR ISRAEL

And then we have the largest Christian Zionist organization in the world, Christians United for Israel, (CUFI) who sent this email out on May 8, 2026. There is a picture of Tucker Carlson and Candance Owens on each side of the photograph while in the middle is the photo of Ben Shapiro (Ben is the person who said that Judaism permits a non-Jew to earn a place in the world to come by adhering to the seven Noahide Laws.) 

Look at what the article from CUFI says (Here is the picture they used which is shown below.) Emphasis (color highlights, bold print, and underline) has been added by the editor of this sermon. The article is entitled “Rise Above the Lies” and tells the reader to “Confront Hate. Defend Truth.” 

“Lies move faster than truth online. False narratives about Israel are being normalized, Jewish communities are being targeted, and Biblical truth is being distorted. Figures like Tucker Carlson and Candace Owens have increasingly promoted claims that distort reality about Israel, excuse terrorist groups, and recycle conspiracy theories that fuel antisemitism. 

Even more troubling, these narratives are sometimes wrapped in religious language—weaponizing faith to spread hostility toward the Jewish people. In the time it takes to read this, over 100 antisemitic posts can appear on a single platform. Rise Above the Lies is an initiative of Christian United for Israel, created to confront antisemitism with clarity, courage, and truth. 

Lies & Facts:

Rise Above the Lies responds to misinformation with documented facts and real stories. We confront falsehoods, provide historical context, and affirm our shared humanity—equipping you to stand thoughtfully and confidently against hatred.”

The article then gives ten lies and what they say is the truth that counteracts the lie. I have called it “CUFI Truth” instead of “Truth”, which is what they called it. Then I added “FGCP Truth” which presents short arguments against the answers that CUFI gives for the lies.

“Lie #1: Antisemitism isn’t a real problem--it’s overblown". 

• CUFI Truth: The data says otherwise. Jews remain the #1 target of religious hate crimes in America.”
• FGCP Truth: Why were the Jews kicked out of 109 Christian countries and towns in Europe in the Middle Ages? Antisemitism doesn’t mean anti-Jewish.. 

The word “Anti‘s[h]em’itism” means against the descendants of “Shem”, one of the three sons of Noah. Arphaxad was one of five sons of Shem. It was in his tenth generation that the Edomites appeared, and his descendants eventually, many years later, became Jews. So, there are many people that are Semites besides Jews. 

Friedrich Wilhelm Adolph Marr (1819-1904) was a German journalist and politician, who popularized the term “antisemitism” in 1881. Marr believed that the situation between Germans and Jews could not be resolved even by the total assimilation of the Jewish population.  

According to Marr, the struggle between Jews and Germans would only be resolved by the victory of one and the ultimate death of the other. A Jewish victory, he concluded, would result in the end of the German people. To prevent this from happening, in 1879 Marr founded the League of Antisemites, the first German organization committed specifically to combating the alleged threat to Germany posed by the Jews and advocating the Jews forced removal from the country (not the killing of them). Was Marr correct in his viewpoint?

“Lie #2: Jews are the oppressors.

• CUFI Truth: Jewish history is defined not by domination, but by persecution, survival, and resilience. To twist that history into a narrative of oppression is morally bankrupt.”
• FGCP Truth: World history teaches that the Jews have been usually the aggressors. For example, they rebelled against the Romans in three major conflicts between 66 and 135 A.D., primarily driven by a desire to regain independence from the Roman Empire. They were driven from the capital city of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. and were put into the great Jewish dispersion.

More recently they were also the aggressors in the Bolshevik Revolution of 1917 in Russia where they slaughtered up to sixty million Christians. The Bolshevik Revolution toppled the Russian Revolution (in February), which was a democratic but weak government, but was then replaced by a Jewish communist state. 

The Jewish bankers have started most of the wars in the last few centuries, including both World Wars. Their goal is to rule the world. How many Christians consider the Jews as being an antichristian and their enemy? Most consider them as their number one Ally!

And what about the organization of the USA mafia? It was Jewish controlled. Arnold Rothstein, in Erica Kirk’s family tree, was the one who changed it from street hoodlums to a corporation. They were in every large city and even had Murder Incorporated who killed on contract over 400 people. The Jewish Mafia—rose to immense power through bootlegging, gambling, prostitution, and labor racketeering. 

“Lie #3: Jews controlled or were responsible for the transatlantic slave trade."

• CUFI Truth: This claim is an antisemitic fabrication, not history. Jews played no disproportionate role in the slave trade and had no control over its operations. Leading historians reject this lie outright.”
• FGCP Truth:  Duncan Wagnall’s Jewish Encyclopedia, Volume 10, page 48: 

“The trade in slavery constituted the main source of livelihood for the Roman Jew.”

At the height of American slavery, 78% of slave owners were ethnic Jews. Forty percent of the Jewish population were slave owners, while only 0.35% of white Americans owned slaves.

The buyers who appeared at the auctions were almost always Jews, and because of their lack of competitors they could buy slaves at low prices. If it happened that the date of a certain auction fell on a Jewish holiday, the auction had to be postponed.

“Lie #4: The Talmud insults or attacks Jesus."

• CUFI Truth: This accusation is a medieval antisemitic distortion. Jewish texts do not focus on Jesus, and the passages often cited are misidentified, mistranslated, or unrelated. Serious scholars reject this claim entirely.”

• FGCP Truth: The Talmud contains many references to Jesus of Nazareth, for example:

  Yebamoth 49b: “Jesus was a bastard born of adultery.”

  Shabbath 104b: “Jesus was a magician and a fool. Mary was an adulteress.”

  Sanhedrin 43a: “Jesus was guilty of sorcery and apostasy.”

  Sanhedrin 106a & b: “Mary was a whore: Jesus was an evil man.”

  Gittin 56b, 57a: “Jesus was sent to Hell, where he is punished by boiling excrement for mocking Rabbis.”

King Louis IX of France, in 1240, held an unprecedented trial of the Babylonian Talmud. The King ordered the Talmud to be put on trial in Paris for blaspheming Christianity. There were four prominent rabbis who were the defendants in the case. As a result of the trial an estimated 10,000 to 12,000 handwritten volumes of manuscripts transported in twenty-four cartloads were publicly burned in Paris on June 17, 1242. As a result of his findings, the Catholic Church made King Louis IX a saint—Saint Louis. 

Were the Catholics wrong or were the Jews wrong? 

“Lie #5: The Jewish lobby controls American politicians."

• CUFI Truth: No lobby—Jewish or otherwise—controls American leaders. This lie is a repackaged conspiracy theory meant to portray Jews as puppet-masters. Jewish Americans make up about 2% of the population and advocate legally and transparently, just like every other community.” 
• FGCP Truth: Groups like AIPAC organize hundreds of funded trips to Israel for members of Congress to foster closer ties. Some lawmakers, like Rep. Thomas Massie and Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, have publicly alleged that this influence is pervasive enough to effectively dictate Congressional behavior on Middle East policy and all Jewish desires. They (Massie and Greene) took no money from AIPAC and were called “losers” by President Trump. They either didn’t run or lost their primary for the next session of Congress because of their disagreement with the common argument the United States should support Israeli. Only 10 out of 535 Congressman took no AIPAC money (1.8%).

President John F. Kennedy was going to sign a law that AIPAC, it was called then the American Zionist Committee for Public Affairs, to make them sign that they were a political organization. But he was assassinated and the law was never signed. Why won’t they sign? Because they control America’s political leaders.

“Lie #6: Israel pays American politicians."

• CUFI Truth: There is zero evidence for this accusation. U.S. law bans foreign governments—including Israel—from funding political campaigns. This claim is not political analysis; it is an antisemitic conspiracy meant to painting Jews and Israel as corrupting American democracy.” 
• FGCP Truth: During the 2024 election cycle, pro-Israel groups reportedly gave over $58 million to members of Congress. Analysis suggests that nearly all members of Congress received donations from these groups except for two or three members. President Trump even publicly stated that he received a $100 million dollar campaign contribution from Miriam Adelson. She is very pro-Israeli as she said that people who criticize Israel or offer only qualified support are “dead to us.”

“Lie #7: October 7 was staged by Israel, faked, or done by Israel to themselves."

• CUFI Truth: The October 7 massacre was carried out by Hamas, a U.S.—designated terrorist organization. The evidence—video, satellite imagery, forensics, eyewitness accounts, international investigations, and Hamas’s own admissions—is overwhelming. Pretending otherwise is Holocaust style denial.”
• FGCP Truth: Charlie Kirk stated that he had been to the border of Gaza and Israeli many times. He said that there were young Israeli soldiers with rapid firing rifles every ten feet. No Hamas could have entered unless there was a stand-down order given. Charlie asked Prime Minister Bibi when the stand-down order was given and, before he received an answer, Charlie was murdered. If a stand-down order was given, and there have been several testimonies to that effect over the last month, then the October 7th escapade, like 9/11, was an inside job.

“Lie #8: It was impossible for six million Jews to be murdered because the cremation ovens couldn’t handle that many victims."

• CUFI Truth: This is Holocaust denial, not history. The Nazis murdered Jews through mass shootings, gas chambers? forced starvation, disease, ghettos? death marches? and more. Crematoria were only one method of disposal—not the basis for determining the death toll. The six million figure is verified by German records? forensic evidence? demographics? eyewitness testimony? and postwar tribunals?” [Question marks added by the editor.]
• FGCP Truth: The story of the Holocaust, fabricated by Soviet Jews, is so contradictory that it defies logic. The concentration camps were work camps because the Germans had most of their men in the army fighting. By the end of the war, they had to use young teenagers (boys) to fight. They needed adults to work in the factories. So, they used women, old men, and people who were in concentration camps.

I had a teacher in high school, who grew up in Germany during World War II, who was a future-teacher assigned to our class for a semester. He told us that when he was fifteen years old, he fought in the German Army in the front lines. Did he lie?

“Lie #9: Anti-Zionism isn’t antisemitism."

• CUFI Truth: Criticism of policy is fair game. But denying Jews the right to self-determination or calling for the end of the world’s only Jewish state, is antisemitism. Anti-Zionism today routinely targets Jews, erases Jewish peoplehood, and seeks to dismantle Israel. That is not debate—that is hate.”
• FGCP Truth: The modern view is that antisemitism is prejudice, discrimination, or hostility directed at Jewish people as individuals or as a collective. Antizionism is opposition to Zionism, the movement for the self-determination and statehood for the Jewish people in their ancestral homeland. Zionists believe that they have a biblical right to the land of Israel.

Their leader, Bibi Natanyahu or his real name, Mileikowsky, spent time in both Israeli and America. He graduated from high school in the United States (in Pennsylvania) and went to college at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is an Ashkenazi Jew with parents who came from Lithuania and Warsaw in Europe. There is a big question of why Bibi is allowed to live in Israeli when his ancestors never lived there in the past. The argument is that Israeli is reclaiming the land that was given to them by God. If his ancestors never lived there, what right does he have to say that God is giving him the right to live there now?     

“Lie #10: Zionism is racism."

• CUFI Truth: Zionism is the movement for Jewish self-determination in the Jewish ancestral homeland. It is not racism, supremacism, or colonialism—and the UN itself eventually recognized the falsehood of that claim and repealed it. Calling Zionism ‘racism’ is an attempt to delegitimize Jewish identity itself.”
• FGCP Truth: Who is allowed to become a citizen of Israeli? The nation of Israeli is coupled with Scofield’s dispensational Bible to help convince America’s Christians that the Jews are God’s chosen people. The Scofield Bible was set up by the Jew, Samuel Untermeyer, and his Jewish friends. It is their Bible commentary. 

THERE IS MORE

Which side is lying? You can’t be in the middle. You know that in the middle of the 1600s the Jews thought Sabbatai Zevi was their Messiah? 

Bibi Netanyahu said the following:

“I think there is another revolution coming…So what Israel is fighting here is not merely a seven-front war, but an eight-front war…Rome and Jews clashed over values with a great tragedy for the Jewish people. Well, we lost that one. I think we have to win the next. But the new Rome [is] the United States. Jews verses Rome."

A rabbi adds:

“The Romans were never destroyed because the Romans stood up against many of the countries. Who is Rome today? Europe and the United States…Before a new world is built, the old has to be destroyed.” 

Israeli believes that Edom, their name for the West, must be destroyed before the Jewish Messiah can come to rule the world from Jerusalem. Their Messiah will return only once. Edom— which represents Rome, Europe, United States and Christianity – will be totally destroyed. 

The Jews call the descendants of Esau—Rome or the United States. Are they right or wrong?   

Did you know the following fact? Rome, Maryland refers to the original 1663 name of a 400-acre estate that now sits directly beneath the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C. Maryland planter Francis Pope owned the land, naming the tract “Rome” and the bordering creek the “Tiber”, named after the river, that runs through Rome, Italy. His nickname: Pope of 
Rome on the Tiber. This land has, like Rome, Italy, seven hills. 

The United States started out to be Christian. All the colonies were Protestant nations except for Maryland which was Catholic but was outnumber by Protestants for many years. When war was declared against England, each colony was under the laws of its own colony. All 13 of the original American colonies required an attestation of religious belief or affiliation — a religious oath — of the person to hold a political office to be Christian.

These oaths were viewed as instruments of social control, given the traditional view that citizens were trustworthy as civil servants only if they were willing to affirm their allegiance to basic religious tenets. But neither the Articles of Confederation of Perpetual Union (1781-1789) nor the Constitution of 1787 (1789-?) required religious test oaths of federal officeholders.

Then there was a delegation that went to Philadelphia to fix the faults of the Confederation that turned into a secret meeting that decided to do away with the Articles and adopt a new Constitution. This was the beginning of the end of the new Christian nation.

The nation grew progressively worse until there was a war between the two different nations, the southern states that had left the Union against the northern states that had remained. This was the end of Christianity as we know it.

In 1865, the year the War ended, the rotunda was painted by Constantino Brumidi. He was born and trained in Rome, Italy and had painted in the Vatican and Roman palaces before emigrating to the United States in 1852. 

Many of its buildings were built like the Romans had built:

Supreme Court building (on the left) is, in fact, modeled after a Roman temple 9on the right).

Lincoln Memorial is an imitation of the Parthenon of Greece (famous ancient Greek temple dedicated to the goddess Athena):

Jefferson Memorial is partly derived from the Roman Parthenon, which is over 1800 years old, has a dome with a big hole (eye) in the middle, as shown below:

The Apotheosis of Washingon

The Apotheosis of Washington, (the literal turning of Washington into a god), which adorns the underside of the U.S. Capitol dome, depicts Washington ascending to the heavens and becoming a god (Christian heresy). He is draped in the purple robes of triumphant Roman generals and taking his seat with a rainbow arch at his feet. On his left side is the Roman goddess of Victory, Victoria, who is draped in green, blowing a horn. On his right side is the Roman goddess Liberty who wears a red liberty cap, symbolizing emancipation, from a Roman tradition where slaves being freed would be given a felt cap. She holds fasces (bound bundle of wooden rods featuring a projecting axe head, originating as an ancient Roman symbol of authority, unity, and penal power) in her right hand and an open book in the other, to which George Washington gestures with his right hand. 

Forming a circle between Liberty and Victory (the two Roman goddesses) are 13 maidens, each with a star above her head representing the original Thirteen Colonies. Several of the maidens have their backs turned to George Washington representing the colonies that had seceded from the Union at the time of the painting. Across the circle from George Washington is the banner E Pluribus Unun, Latin for “out of many, one.” 

Lining the perimeter of the fresco are the six concepts that stand for real-world ideas, moral lessons, or political messages. Specific images of the following 6 scenes can be found at: https://www.aoc.gov/explore-capitol-campus/art/apotheosis-washington

1. Freedom: Portrayed as a woman, specifically Columbia, who is the female personification of the United States, (created and styled to look like a Greco-Roman goddess) wields a sword and a red, white, and blue shield as she vanquishes tyranny and kingly rule. A bald eagle carrying arrows assists Columbia in her triumph. 

2. Science is symbolized by Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom. A profound deity, she also represents crafts, the arts, technology, and inspiration. In this scene, she is joined by several prominent American scientists and inventors, including Benjamin Franklin, Samuel Morse, and Robert Fulton. She gestures toward an electrical generator, and several children—the next generation of scientists—look on. 

3. The next scene, Marine, celebrates the importance of maritime trade and the ocean itself. Neptune, Roman god of the sea, is identified by his trident and crown of seaweed. He rides a sea chariot, alluding to oceanic crossings. Venus, the Roman goddess of love who was born from the sea, holds and helps lay the transatlantic telegraph cables that were being laid at the time of the fresco’s completion. These cables revolutionized intercontinental communications between the United States and Europe.

4. Marine gives way to the next scene: Commerce. Brumidi strategically placed these two scenes side-by-side as they are inextricably linked. Mercury, the Roman god that symbolizes commerce, and he wears his iconic winged petasos (brimmed hat) and shoes and carries his caduceus (a short staff entwined by two serpents and often topped with wings). Though frequently mistaken for a medical emblem today, it originally symbolized commerce, heralds, and peaceful negotiation.

5. Vulcan, Roman god of fire, the forge, and smithery, presides over the scene Mechanics. He holds a blacksmith’s hammer and stands at an anvil; his right foot rests upon a cannon situated near a pile of cannonballs. Behind Vulcan, there is a steam engine—one of the most significant mechanical innovations of the 18th century, which was indispensable to life and industry in the 19th century. 

6. Lastly, Ceres, Roman goddess of agriculture, graces the scene of the same name, Agriculture. She holds a wreath of wheat (as she is also the goddess of grain crops) and a cornucopia, symbol of abundance. Ceres sits atop a McCormick mechanical reaper, connecting agriculture to mechanical innovation. A figure personifying Young America wears a liberty cap and holds the reins of the horses. Flora, Roman goddess of nature, flowers, and the springtime, picks flowers in the foreground. 

Question: Why is it, in our national capitol, where the legislatures meet, are there nine Roman gods and goddesses depicted under the dome in the rotunda of the Capitol (one American imitation) with one Roman goddess standing on top of the dome on the outside: 

On either side of George Washington:

1. Victoria, Roman goddess
2. Liberty, Roman goddess

On the six scenes on the perimeter:

(X) Columbia, America’s imitation of a Greco-Roman goddess who bears the name of our Capital: Washington District of Columbia

(3) Minerva, Roman goddess

(4) Neptune, Roman god

(5) Venus, Roman goddess

(6) Mercury, Roman god

(7) Vulcan, Roman god

(8) Ceres, Roman goddess  

(9) Flora, Roman goddess, plus 

The goddess that sits on top of the rotunda:

Is our country truly the new Rome?

All of Rome legacies, the Roman Republic’s mixed government inspired the American model of Presidency, Senate, and House of Representatives, and the Supreme Court. The Founding Fathers were avid students of Roman history and sought to refine this balance of power even further. Why would a Christian nation paint strange gods and goddesses that depicted their help in forming our nation in the roof of their legislative building? Have we, the descendants of Jacob, forsaken the God of our people?

The War Between the Two Nations has proven to the deadliest war in U. S. history for it killed between an estimated 625,000 to 750,000 fatalities (combining Union and Confederate losses). Because Americans fought and died on both sides, the War Between the Two Nations remains the highest mortality event in U. S. history.

Shortly after the War ended, the descendants of Esau began to emigrate at a much greater number from Europe to the United States. The nation just continued to crumble, decade after decade, until it reached an impossible situation to fix--except for faith in their LORD and Savior, the King of kings to save their nation once again. 

Joshua 24:20:   “If ye forsake the LORD, and serve strange gods, then He will turn and do you harm, and consume you, after He hath done you good.”
