Scripture Reading:  1 Samuel 30:6a

The Bible tells us the things that we need to know. This is where we left off at our last sermon. David was greatly distressed. Why? Because his own men in his small army (600 men) were talking about stoning him. What! His men were raising the question of whether to kill the anointed future king of Israel!

King Saul fell flat on his face and was in sore trouble. He had just heard the words that the familiar spirit of the witch that his days would be over in the next day. He had eaten nothing for about 24 hours. In this weak state he was ready to return to the battlefield. But the witch and his men convinced him that he needed to eat, and she fixed them a meal, and they ate and then made the 12-mile journey back to the battlefield to fight the Philistines the next morning.

The Philistines were ready to attack the forces of Israel under the leadership of King Saul. David was saved from fighting with the Philistines, but when he went home to Ziklag, he found that the city was burnt and no one, including the children and wives of his men, was there. They were all gone. Were they still alive? Where were their wives and children, if they were still alive? How could they get them back without them being killed if they were not already dead?

Hebrews in Egypt - Part 1

“And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again ...”  Deuteronomy 28:68

By what authority did the AV 1611 translators render H4714 mizraim, mitsrayim as “Egypt” in Genesis 14:13?. Now we realize, of course, Genesis 14:13 does not establish there were Hebrews in Egypt, or Mizraim.  But we can see that among the Amorites, a tribe of the Canaanites in Canaan land, Abram was known as one of the Hebrew people.

Do we have a 2nd Witness to the existence of the Hebrews?

Scripture Reading:  1 Samuel 28:7

When we left off our study in lesson number four, how was the ancient nation of Israel (descendants of Jacob) doing? Was it doing great, mediocre, or pathetic? I think that it was doing rather poorly.

First, its king, King Saul, had gone to an individual who had a familiar or a spirit of divination. This person was believed to have the ability to foretell the future or read omens. This was the type of individual that Saul personally kicked out of his nation several decades before. And now he is seeking one of them out to give him some information.

Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 25:43, 44:

1 Samuel 25:43, 44:

43) “David also took Ahinoam of Jezreel: and they were also both of them his wives.

44) But Saul had given Michal his daughter, David’s wife, to Phalti the son of Laish, which was of Galim.”

What is David doing? Why does he marry Abigail now? He was a homeless wanderer and in no condition to give unto a wife the care and devotion to which she is entitled. Should he wait a little bit, after the death of her husband, before  he asked her to be his wife? Doesn’t the Scripture teach “to everything there is a season” (Ecclesiastes 3:1).

And how did David know Ahinoam? What happened? The Bible does not tell us anything about their relationship. He was still homeless and in no way to provide for her. When did they meet? How soon after he asked Abigail to marry him did, did he ask Ahinoam? How long did they know each other? The Bible doesn’t tell us.

Destroyed from Within

God gave His people a covenant and the cloth he had around his loins was holy and sacred to God and to us. (Jeremiah 13:1-11). Unfortunately Israel corrupted themselves by serving other gods, therefore making them and the linen girdle corrupt from within; just like we do today when we serve other gods. We make ourselves worthless to God.

Scripture Reading:  1 Samuel 24:1

From these words of the Scriptural reading, we gather that Saul had been successful in turning back the invading Philistines. This illustrates a principle which is often lost sight of: human success is no proof of divine approbation. The mere fact that a man is prospering outwardly, does not, of itself, demonstrate that his life is pleasing unto the Lord. Only an infidel would deny that it was God who enabled Saul to clear his land of the Philistines, yet we err seriously if we conclude from this that He delighted in him.

1Samuel 24:2:

“Then Saul took three thousand chosen men out of all Israel, and went to seek David and his men upon the rocks of the wild goats.”

Saul had been providentially blocked while pursuing David, by the invading Philistines; but now, as soon as this hindrance by the invading Philistines was removed, he redoubles his evil efforts. One would think that the very invasion of the Philistines changed Saul’s attitude toward the one whom he was so causelessly and relentlessly pursuing. Ought he not to have realized now, more forcible than ever, that he needed David at the head of his army to repulse the common enemy? Very few people thrive as well in times of prosperity as they do in seasons of adversity.

(2 Corinthians 11). This Lesson is sponsored by Section 292 of a Continuing Resolution passed by The House of Representatives, to which they attached a weak version of the Save America Act, just before they lammed out of Washington, District of Criminals, for August 2026 recess!!! (Is recess for children?) Section 292 (as it currently reads before Senate consideration) wrests Command of the Armed Forces of the United States from The Office of the President by placing an Executive in the Pentagon to combine the Intelligence Operations of American Agencies with the Israeli Mossad to make America the vassal state of Israeli. Section 292 appears to be the brainchild of the Prime Minister of Israeli, Netanyahu, and empowers an unconstitutional end run around the duly elected President of the United States !  If anybody within the sound of my voice disagrees with my take on Section 292, please bring your copy of Section 292 to me to show me the error of my ways.  Make sure it is the 1st copy passed by the House before August 2026 recess. As the OUTRIGHT RESCUE of Jesus Christ the Righteous I am honor bound to give you a complete hearing. Second Corinthians, chapter eleven, has part of one of the greatest themes of our Bibles.  This theme is typically ignored!

Scripture Reading:Psalm 52:1-9

This Psalm, Psalm 52, is about Doeg and what he said to Saul about David’s visit to Nob. Saul had just criticized his Benjaminite servants that they had conspired against him when Doeg, the Edomite, answered him.

Who is an Edomite? It is a descendant of Esau. What is a descendant of Esau doing making comments, or even being in the army of the descendants of Jacob? Doeg served King Saul as the chief of his herdsmen. The Bible does not explicitly state how a foreigner (stranger) and an enemy from Edom joined Saul’s royal staff. But most historians and scholars suggest Doeg may have been taken as a captive during Israel’s military campaign against Edom or entered service as a political ally or high-ranking servant.

Called by His Name

By Pastor Jim Jester

SCRIPTURE TEXT: 2 Chronicles 7:14

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”

Who are God’s people, and what does it mean to be called by God’s name? What saith the Scriptures?

Deu 32:9 For the LORD'S portion is his people; Jacob is the lot of his inheritance.

Ps 147:19 He sheweth his word unto Jacob, his statutes and his judgments unto Israel. 20 He hath not dealt so with any nation: and as for his judgments, they [other races] have not known them.

Isa 45:4 For Jacob my servant's sake and Israel mine elect, I have even called thee by thy name: I have surnamed thee, though thou hast not known me.

Isa 46:3 Hearken unto me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, which are borne by me from the belly, which are carried from the womb:

Isa 59:20 And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD. 21 As for me, this is my covenant with them, saith the LORD; My spirit that is upon thee, and my words which I have put in thy mouth, shall not depart out of thy mouth, nor out of the mouth of thy seed, nor out of the mouth of thy seed's seed, saith the LORD, from henceforth and for ever.

Are not all of these racist statements? Of course they are. One should also read Ezra chapters 9-10 when it was discovered that many of Israel married “strange wives.” The Israelites had to prove their identity.

Scripture Reading:  Deuteronomy 28:43, 44:

43) “The stranger that is within thee shall get up above thee very high; and thou shalt come down very low.

44) He shall lend to thee, and thou shalt not lend to him: he shall be the head, and thou shalt be the tail.”

Who shall be the head or the leader? Who shall be the tail or the follower? Deuteronomy, chapter 28 tells of what will happen if Israel fails to hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep His commandments and His statutes which he commanded thee.

When Israel does this, they are going to be ruled by people who are not their own kind, i.e. foreigners. They will be at the bottom of the rung.

Now, is Israel keeping the law of God or have they not been keeping His commandments and His statutes? It is my opinion that Israel doesn’t even know who they come from. They are ignorant that they are descendants of Jacob and are recipients of the Abrahamic covenant.
