Hebrews in Egypt - Part 1

“And the LORD shall bring thee into Egypt again ...”  Deuteronomy 28:68

by Walter Giddings

October 18, 2026

(Genesis 14:13).  By what authority did the AV 1611 translators render H4714 mizraim, mitsrayim as “Egypt”?

13 And there came one that had esca-

ped; and told Abram the Hebrew; for

he dwelt in the plain of Mamre, the

Amorite, brother of Eschcol, and bro-

ther of Aner: and these were confed-

              erate with Abram.

                                         Genesis chapter fourteen.

Now we realize, of course, Genesis 14:13 does not establish there were Hebrews in Egypt, or Mizraim.  But we can see that among the Amorites, a tribe of the Canaanites in Canaan land, Abram was known as one of the Hebrew people.

Do we have a 2nd Witness to the existence of the Hebrews? (Genesis 41:12).  Pharaoh’s chief butler, “in ward in the captain of the guard’s house”, had his dream (along with the chief baker) interpreted by Joseph:

12 And there was there a young man,

an Hebrew, servant to the captain of

the guard; and we told him and he

interpreted to us our dreams; to each

man according to his dream he did

              interpret.

                                         Genesis chapter forty-one.

“A young man, an Hebrew.” Joseph was Abraham’s great grandson. Have we established that Abraham’s seed are Hebrews? What manner of people were the Hebrews? Where, and how many, were there?

(Deuteronomy 7:7). Here in Verse 7 of Deuteronomy chapter 7, the LORD God of our fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Israel is promising to keep Covenant with Abraham’s seed:

7 The LORD did not set his love up-

on you, nor choose you because you

              were more in number than any people;

for ye were the fewest of all people:

                                         Deuteronomy chapter seven.

“Ye [the Hebrews] were the fewest of all people.”  How did the Hebrews in Abraham’s day become “the fewest of all people”? Who is the father of the Hebrew people? And how did they become so few?

(Genesis 10:21). Were the Hebrews one of many peoples that overspread the earth following The Flood of Noah’s Day?

21 Unto Shem also, the father of all

the children of Eber, the brother of

Japheth the elder, even to him were

              children born.

                                         Genesis chapter ten

We recall that Shem, Ham, and Japheth were the 3 sons of Noah.Verse 21 informs us Shem is “the father of all the children of Eber”. Next Verse: Verse 22.

22 The children of Shem; Elam, and

Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and

              Aram.

                                         Genesis chapter ten

Where is Eber? Verse 24.

24 And Arphaxad begat Salah; and

              Salah begat Eber.

                                         Genesis chapter ten

Does it appear Eber is the great-grandson of Shem and the great-great-grandson of Noah? What about Eber’s sons? Verse 25.

25 And unto Eber were born two

              sons: the name of one was Peleg;

              for in his days was the earth divided;

and his brother’s name was Joktan.

                                                Genesis chapter ten.

The remainder of Genesis chapter 10 concludes with the sons of Joktan.Verse 32 concludes “the families of the sons of Noah” with “by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood”.

We do not obtain the sons of Peleg until Genesis 11 gives the History of the building of the city and tower at Babel where God divided the earth and “the LORD did there confound the language of all the earth: and from thence did the LORD scatter them abroad upon the face of all the earth” [Genesis 11:9].

Beginning in Verse 10 the God of the Hebrews through Moses rehearses the genealogy of Shem in the manner of the Genealogy of Seth! The ages of the post-diluvian patriarchs are given when they beget their sons and the number of years they lived begetting sons and daughters afterward and lists their ages at death (Genesis 11:16-17). This genealogy concentrates on 1st, Arphaxad’s descendants, on 2nd, Salah’s descendants, and on 3rd, Eber’s descendants.

p      16 And Eber lived four and thirty

              years, and begat Peleg:

c      17 And Eber lived after he begat

Peleg four hundred and thirty years,

              and begat sons and daughters.

                                                Genesis chapter eleven

(Genesis 11:26). This Genealogy of Peleg, son of Eber, concludes, in Chapter 11, with the family of Terah, the father of Abram.

26 And Terah lived seventy years,

and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.

                                                Genesis chapter eleven

We should recall that when the LORD God chose Abram the Hebrew, he was [Deuteronomy 7:7] “the fewest of all people”! (Genesis 11:31). How did the Hebrews in Abram’s day become the fewest of all people?!

31 And Terah took Abram his son,

and Lot the son of Haran his son’s

son, and Sarai his daughter in law,

his son Abram’s wife; and they went

forth with them from Ur of the Chal-

              dees, to go into the land of Canaan;

and they came unto Haran and dwelt

              there.

                                                Genesis chapter eleven.

In Verse 32 Terah dies at the age of 205. (Genesis 12:1-3). Is it true that Abram, and his family with him, are Hebrews?

Now the LORD had said unto

Abram, Get thee out of thy country,

and from thy kindred, and from thy

father’s house, unto a land that I will

              shew thee:

                                                Genesis chapter twelve

“The LORD had said”. When did the LORD say that to Abram? With regard to our native tongue English, is the Verb, to say, conjugated into the past perfect Tense? Does this mean “the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee” well before Abram came in unto the land of Canaan?

(Verse 2). What else did the LORD God say unto Abram before he came in unto the land of Canaan?

2 And I will make of thee a great

nation, and I will bless thee, and

make thy name great; and thou shalt

              be a blessing:

                                         Genesis chapter twelve

“I will make of thee a great nation.” Will the LORD God take care of the Hebrew depopulation problem through Abram?! (Verse 3). Is this promise made to a Jew, or to an Hebrew?

3 And I will bless them that bless

thee, and curse him that curseth thee:

and in thee shall all families of the

              earth be blessed.

                                                Genesis chapter twelve

“In thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.”  Is the current regime of Israeli blessing all families of the earth? Or do the Hebrews bless earth’s families?

(Genesis 12:4). When did Abram and all that was with him come into the land of Canaan?

4 So Abram departed as the LORD

had spoken unto him; and Lot went

with him: and Abram was seventy

and five years old when he departed

              out of Haran.

                                                Genesis chapter twelve

When Abram departed out of Haran, at age 75, was he in obedience to the LORD our God? Was departing out of Haran to go into the land of Canaan an act of obedience to the God of the Hebrews? Was taking Lot with him an act of obedience to the God of the Hebrews? Had the LORD God said unto Abram, “Get thee out of thy country and from thy kindred” [Verse 1]?

When Abram’s father died, did Abram become patriarch of the family? Did Abram as surviving son of Terah assume the role of Patriarch of the family at his father’s death?Haran had died in Ur [Genesis 11:28].  Did the LORD tell Abram [Verse 1], “Get thee out ... from thy father’s house”?

(Verse 5).  What did Abram do?

5 And Abram took Sarai his wife,

and Lot his brother’s son, and all

their substance that they had gather-

ed, and the souls they had gotten in

Haran; and they went forth to go in-

to the land of Canaan; and into the

              land of Canaan they came.

                                         Genesis chapter twelve

“And Abram took ... Lot his brother’s son ... into the land of Canaan.” Was Abram supposed to “Get thee out ... from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house” [Verse 1]?

(Verse 6). Why was this land known as “the land of Canaan”? And why was “the Canaanite” already “then in the land”?

6 And Abram passed through the

land unto the place of Sichem, unto

the plain of Moreh. And the Canaan-

ite was then in the land.

                                                Genesis chapter twelve

Why was “the Canaanite” already “then in the land”? That Question is interesting! It must be taken up in another Lesson. It is a departure from the subject matter of Hebrews in Egypt.

(Verse 7). In this Verse we find why the LORD God wanted to show Abram the land of Canaan.

7 And the LORD appeared unto

Abram, and said, Unto thy seed will

I give this land: and there builded

he an altar unto the LORD, who

              appeared unto him.

                                                Genesis chapter twelve.

“Unto thy seed will I give this land.” Does this mean that the land of Canaan will become the land of the Hebrews? When will the LORD give the land of Canaan to the Hebrews?

[In Genesis 13] “The land was not able to bear them that they might dwell together for their substance was great.” Lot chose all the plain of Jordan and journeyed east. Abram dwelled in the land of Canaan.  [Genesis 14]. When Abram heard his brother Lot was taken captive by a warring king, Abram armed 318 trained servants, overtook his enemy, brought back all the goods, brought again his brother Lot and his goods, and the women also, and the people. He tithed to Melchizedek and took nothing from the King of Sodom to thwart anyone who might say the Canaanite King had made Abram rich.

(Mark Genesis 15). With Lot and Abram, and their herds and flocks and substance, completely separated, the LORD God of the Hebrews came again unto Abram.  (Verses 5-6).

p       5 And he brought him forth abroad,

and said, Look now toward heaven,

and tell the stars, if thou be able to

number them: and he said unto him,

              So shall thy seed be.

c       6 And he believed in the LORD; and

he counted it to him for righteousness.

                                                Genesis chapter fifteen

In the Land God gave to our forefathers, are we facing the same Hebrew depopulation problem our Father Abraham faced in his day?

7 And he said unto him, I am the

LORD that brought thee out of Ur

of the Chaldees to give thee this

              land to inherit it.

                                         Genesis chapter fifteen

Is the God of the Hebrews announcing to Abram the Hebrew his clear intent to give unto his seed the land on which the tribes of Canaan have been born, since the Flood of Noah’s day and the scattering from the Tower of Babel? Did the God of the Hebrews do the same thing with the non-praying Asiatic strain of Indians for our forefathers who framed the Republic? For the last 2 decades, has The Public Fool System in America been teaching the Heresy that God victimized the Canaanites, and the Indians of the Americas? The Mantra is “Stolen Land”!

(Verse 8). Was even Abraham doubtful about the prospects his seed would inherit the land flush with the descendants of Cain through Canaan?

8 And he said, Lord GOD, where-

by shall I know that I shall inherit it?

                                         Genesis chapter fifteen

What follows in Genesis 15 is a description of the cutting of a covenant between Abraham and his seed, and the LORD God of the Hebrews! We covered this part of the story in our Lesson titled Covenant. The Scriptures revealed to us from that Lesson, July 23, 2023, Abram the Hebrew split the pieces of flesh for the sacrificial ceremony, except for the birds, for the LORD God of the Hebrews to pass between them! Do we recall when the sun went down Abram fell into a deep sleep, and an “horror of great darkness” was upon him!  [Genesis 15:12] And the LORD God passed between the pieces himself as if “a smoking furnace and a burning lamp” [Genesis 15:17] (Verse 13). For this Lesson we need to especially note this, Verse.

13 And he said unto Abram, Know

of a surety that thy seed shall be a

stranger in a land that is not theirs

and shall serve them; and they shall

              afflict them four hundred years.

                                                Genesis chapter fifteen

Who is “they” that shall “afflict them four hundred years”?

(Verse 14). Will Abram’s seed be in Egypt four hundred years?

14 And also that nation, whom they

shall serve, will I judge: and after-

ward shall they come out with great

              substance.

                                                Genesis chapter fifteen

(Put a mark in Genesis 15) (Exodus 12:35-36).  Does “come out with great substance” remind us of these 2 Verses in Exodus 12?

p      35 And the children of Israel did

according to the word of Moses; and

they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels

of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment.

c      36 And the LORD gave the people

favour in the sight of the Egyptians

so that they lent unto them such

things as they required.  And they

              spoiled the Egyptians.

                                                Exodus chapter twelve.

(Back to Genesis 15).  How long is four generations?  (Verse 16).

16 But in the fourth generation they

shall come hither again: for the ini-

quity of the Amorites is not yet full.

                                                Genesis chapter fifteen

“In the fourth generation they shall come hither again.” Is the LORD God of the Hebrews going to bring them into Canaan again? Does “hither again” mean the land of Canaan? Will the LORD God deposit 4 generations of the Hebrews into Egypt, the land of Mizraim, until “the iniquity of the Amorites” becomes full?!

Have we been told (Prophecy) Abram the Hebrew’s seed will return to the land of Canaan?

Have we been told (Prophecy) Abram the Hebrew’s seed will come into the land of Canaan again, from Egypt, in the 4th generation?

How paramount is the existence of the Hebrew people in The Scriptures? Why would the LORD God of the Hebrews write The General Epistle to the Hebrews, if the Hebrew people were lost to existence?!  Let’s see! The General Epistle to the Hebrews follows The Epistle to Philemon and precedes The General Epistle of James!

How long did Abraham’s seed sojourn in the land of Canaan until they went down into Egypt? Do the Books of Moses give us the means to determine the time Jacob went with all his family and all their substance to join Joseph’s family in Egypt? Did the Hebrews “sojourn” in 2 different lands? Canaan and Egypt?

(Genesis 47:8-9). Did Joseph, at Pharaoh’s command, schedule an interview for his father with Pharaoh?

p       8 And Pharaoh said unto Jacob, How

              old art thou?

c       9 And Jacob said unto Pharaoh, The

days of the years of my pilgrimage are

an hundred and thirty years: few and

evil have the days of the years of my

life been, and have not attained unto

the days of the years of the life of my

fathers in the days of their pilgrimage.

“An hundred and thirty years.” (Scroll down to Verse 28). How old was Jacob/Israel when he died?

28 And Jacob lived in the land of

Egypt seventeen years: so the whole

age of Jacob was an hundred forty and

              seven years.

                                         Genesis chapter forty-seven.

Does the thought occur to us to ask a question? How many years did our fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob/Israel sojourn in a land that was not yet theirs, before they went down into Egypt, the land of Mizraim?

Have we identified the 1st generation of the Hebrews that went down into Egypt? (Exodus 1:5). Not counting Jacob/Israel and the mothers of his children, how many went down into Egypt?

5 And all the souls that came out of

the loins of Jacob were seventy souls:

for Joseph was in Egypt already.

                                                Exodus chapter one

“Seventy souls.”  The children of Israel were 70 souls.

(Verse 6). What happened to Jacob/Israel’s sons?

6 And Joseph died, and all his bre-

              thren, and all that generation.

                                                Exodus chapter one

The Twelve Sons of Israel, the Twelve Patriarchs, are all gone on.  Exodus chapter one instructs us that the children of the Fathers of the 12 Tribes grew and multiplied exceedingly “and the land was filled with them.” [Verse 7]

All the descendants, all the seed of Abraham the Hebrew, went down into Egypt when Jacob/Israel was 130 years old. [Verse 8] tells us a new king rose to power in Egypt who “did not know Joseph” (!) Does this indicate that he was from another people in Egypt, other than Mizraim, son of Ham? And this new king “said unto his people” [Verse 9] that “the children of Israel” were greater in multitude and mightier. Wisdom dictated they needed to appoint taskmasters over them and afflict them with great burden of labor to keep them busy from dawn to dusk and prevent them from escape during any war.  When the children of Israel increased in multitude and might even faster, the Egyptian taskmasters made their lives bitter with “hard bondage”. (Verse 15). They made them serve with rigor.

And they hatched a plan to replace them!

15 And the king of Egypt spake to the

Hebrew midwives, of which the name

of the one was Shiphrah, and the name

              of the other Puah:

c      16 And he said, When ye do the office

of a midwife to the Hebrew women,

and see them upon the stools; if it be a

son, then ye shall kill him: but if it be

a daughter, then she shall live.

                                                Exodus chapter one.

We recall the Hebrew midwives told the Pharaoh that “did not know Joseph” that the “Hebrew women” were not like the Egyptian women. They were arriving to find the “Hebrew women” had delivered their babies and were only assisting in the delivery of the placenta and the cutting of the umbilical cord. We learn in Exodus chapter one that the Hebrew midwives feared the God of the Hebrews and that same God made them houses. And “the Hebrews in Egypt” continued to increase in multitude and waxed mightier. Exodus chapter one closes with Pharaoh charging all his people, commanding [Verse 22] “Every son that is born ye shall cast into the river, and every daughter ye shall save alive.” Of course, in an oligarchy, the ruling class is exempt from such orders in the game called “Rules for thee, but not for me (!)” We may recall that this led to Moses becoming a basket case.

Are we, that are “of Israel”, are we in Egypt again?  Are the children of today’s Hebrews escapees from sacrifice of the 1st born to the gods of Egypt, as Moses was? (Deuteronomy 28:68). Are we in hard bondage, serving with rigor?

68 And the LORD shall bring thee

into Egypt again with ships, by the

way whereof I spake unto thee,

Thou shalt see it no more again:

and there ye shall be sold unto your

              enemies for bondmen and bond-

women, and no man shall buy you.

                           Deuteronomy chapter twenty-eight.

Have our college graduates been sold into debt bondage? Are foreign factories relocating here in American Israel to take our young men into bondage that will be turned into hard bondage with rigor? Will later legislation, or fiat proclamations, confiscate the Trump accounts for our children? Does everything seem to be at the cliff’s edge as it was for the Hebrews in Egypt? “And no man shall buy you.” Will the American Hebrews be replaced in the work force? Will no Employer buy our Labor? Will we have another Pharaoh in American Egypt like unto Obama? Would knowing the God of the Hebrews more closely than we do now, be of value? Did the God of our Fathers reveal himself to the Hebrews in Egypt? Would it pay us to know the God of the Hebrews as he revealed himself to them, when he judged all the gods of Egypt? Did the God of the Hebrews rescue them from genocidal depopulation? Will he be pleased to do that for us? Will our carcasses be dropped into the wilderness, while our children go into the Promised Land?

To be continued, God willing, next time.
