Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual Part 5
The Wake-up Herald
And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

"Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual
Part 5
by Robert McCurry
Politics issues from the Greek word polities, “city and citizen.”
Here’s how Webster defined politics in 1828:
politics n. = The science of government; that part of ethics which consists in the regulation and government of a nation or state, for the preservation of its safety, peace and prosperity; comprehending the defense of its existence and rights against foreign control or conquest, the augmentation of its strength and resources, and the protection of its citizens in their rights, with the preservation and improvement of their morals.
Here’s how Webster defines politics in 2012:
politics n. = 1. (used with a sing. verb). The art or science of government or governing, especially the governing of a political entity, such as a nation, and the administration and control of its internal and external affairs. 2. (used with a sing. or pl. verb). The activities or affairs engaged in by a government, politician, or political party.
How far America has fallen; having sown to the wind by rejecting God’s ‘Perfect Law’ America is now reaping the whirlwind. Here is what God has to say about this sin:
“The wise men are ashamed, they are dismayed and taken: lo, they have rejected the word of the Lord; and what wisdom is in them?” (Jer 8:9).
”When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn” (Prov 29:2).
“Thus saith the Lord; Cursed [with great evil] is the man that trusts in or relies on man, making [human] flesh his arm, and whose mind and heart turns aside from the Lord” (Jer 17:5).
”And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the Lord thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. As the nations which the Lord destroyed before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the Lord your God” (Jer 8:19, 20).
Jesus said, “And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it” (Matt 7:26, 27).
God’s Word—not politics—is square one, point of beginning to resolve America’s rapid descent into an inevitable demise.
Jesus Christ is LORD! The law of the LORD is perfect! “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us” (Isa 33:22).
Jesus said, “Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock” (Matt 7:24, 25).
“Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goes forth, he returns to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.”(Ps 146:3-4).
“It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man. It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in princes” (Ps 118:8-9).
“I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust” (Ps 91:2).
“Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation”(Isa 12:2).
