Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual Part 12

The Wake-up Herald

And that, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfill the lusts thereof. Romans 13:11-14

Politics, Pastors and Business as Usual
Part 12

by Robert McCurry

Biblical Christianity is the only true religion.

religion n. 1. a. Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. 2. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.

Christianity n. 1. The Christian religion, founded on the life and teachings of Jesus.

Christian n. 1. One who professes belief in Jesus as Christ or follows the religion based on the life and teachings of Jesus. 2. One who lives according to the teachings of Jesus.

true adj. 1. a. Consistent with fact or reality; not false or erroneous. b. Truthful. 2. Real; genuine. 3. Reliable; accurate.

Note: ‘Jesus’ is the eternal, sovereign Jehovah God in both the Old and New Testament.

‘Christian’ is a common and often used English word, but is frequently used in an improper   way. For example, “He is a ‘Christian’ lawyer.” Of course, there are lawyers who are ‘Christians’ who practice civil and criminal law, however, a ‘Christian lawyer’ would be one that practices Christian – biblical – law. To my knowledge, there are no ‘Christian lawyers.’

An entity or function is not ‘Christianized’ simply by prefacing it with the word ‘Christian’. Therefore, there are no ‘Christian’ abortionists, sodomites, or same-sex marriages.

A ‘Christian’ entity or function is that which subscribes to and functions in conformity to God’s Word – His Law; be it a Christian, marriage, family, or nation.

A Christian is one in whom ‘Christ lives; Jesus Christ is Lord; loves God’s law.

A ‘Christian marriage’ is one founded on God’s Law of a covenant union between one man and one woman with the promise of fidelity and permanence ‘until death do us part’.

A ‘Christian family’ is one that functions according to God’s Law of structure and responsibility.

A ‘Christian Nation’ is one that acknowledges, fears, and obeys the sovereign Jehovah God of the Bible and adheres to His Law.

Sadly these entities are in dismal disarray. Today’s ‘Christian’ and ‘Christianity’, with some exceptions, are far removed from the biblical norm; biblical covenant marriage has been replaced with state civil marriage; divorce among ‘Christians’ exceeds those of non-Christians; cohabitation is approved by many ‘Christians’; people still have ‘relatives’, but traditional, biblical families are virtually extinct.

It is unmistakably clear that America is not a ‘Christian nation’; it is, in fact, an anti-Christian nation; politicians at large, the bureaucratic juggernaut, and the judiciary are hostile to Christianity and seize every opportunity to oppose, suppress, control, deny, and punish Christian faith and practice, using the U.S. Constitution to enforce its agenda. Remember the Supreme Court and its ban of prayer and Bible reading in 1963-1964; its pro-death abortion ruling in 1973 that has resulted in the murder of sixty million+ babies via abortion? These are not acts of a ‘Christian nation’.

America’s current crisis is the result of having sown to the wind; an evolution of violations of God’s Law over many years, far too many to enumerate here. The challenge now is, if possible, to stop the hemorrhaging and minimize the damages; it won’t be easy but it is simple; remedy the sin problem. Sin is the transgression of God’s Law; sin produces lawlessness. God’s Word is square one, point of beginning in resolving the sin problem; sin must be acknowledged; God commands all to repent and believe the Gospel. Christ alone forgives sin.

‘My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name.
On Christ the solid Rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand.’

Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
