Getting the facts straight:

  • dichotomy n. = Division of one thing into two parts, normally differing or opposing, usually contradictory parts or opinions.
  • sacred adj. = Holy; pertaining to God or to his worship; separated from common secular uses and consecrated to God and His service; worthy of or regarded with reverence, awe, or respect.
  • secular adj. = Pertaining to the present world, or to things not spiritual or holy; relating to things not immediately or primarily respecting the soul, but the body; worldly; relating to worldly as opposed to sacred things; temporal; not concerned with or related to religion or the church.

The devil and those who work in concert with him have successfully convinced the populous at large to believe that there is a dichotomy between the sacred and the secular regarding all moral, social, and political subjects and activities; legalized murder of preborn babies via abortion, homosexuality, and same-sex marriage are now categorized as being solely  ‘secular,’ ‘social,’ and ‘political.’

Alas! Pastors and Christians have also been duped into believing this lie and, with only a few exceptions, are silent and passive about the subjects.

These subjects and activities are not ‘secular,’ ‘social,’ and ‘political’ as the humanists would have us believe—they are biblical and spiritual subjects; ‘works of darkness’ defined as sin and abominations by God in His Word that He warns will bring grief and destruction, not only to the participants, but cataclysmic destruction to the nation at large that ignores and sanctions them. “The wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God” (Psalm 9:17).

These activities are indeed A problem, but they are not THE problem. They are rather the SYMPTOM of the problem. If you have a 105 degree fever, that’s a problem that needs a response. But it’s irresponsible and foolish to take two aspirins every night for 30 days just to reduce the fever and ignore the cause. Ignoring the cause only worsens the condition and results in more problems. 

The root cause of the current catastrophes can be laid at the door of the church; churches and pastors, with a few exceptions, have ignored or compromised biblical truth.

I Corinthians 6:9-10 Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

This root cause has resulted in a discarding of biblical morality, dysfunctional families, divorce, cohabitation, single parent homes, and undisciplined children; we now have an disillusioned, incoherent, and misguided populous that has no biblical moral guidelines or restraints.

God did not ordain educators, social planners, and politicians to be a source or dispenser of biblical truth. It is obvious that they are often the advocates, promoters, and defenders of the very things that are contrary to biblical truth. Unfortunately, pastors were oblivious when the subjects of abortion, homosexuality, and same-sex marriage were commandeered by these charlatans to be used for their self-designed purposes.

God ordained that His Church be the repository of ALL truth; light in a darkened world, salt in a decaying culture, confronting the gates of hell and the lies of the devil and those who work in concert with him who come to steal, kill, and destroy.

Although opposition to the proclamation of biblical truth often comes from the practitioners and defenders of the works of darkness--opposition, strangely, also often comes from pastors and Christians within the church world itself; ‘legalist,’ ‘fundamentalist,’ ‘calamity howler,’ ‘gloom peddler’ are familiar pejoratives.

Many of the Lord’s faithful have had an experience similar to the prophet Jeremiah who became overwhelmed by his critics, “Then I said, I will not make mention of the Lord, nor speak any more in his name.” But Jeremiah recovered and he declared, “But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not keep it in” (Jer 20:9).

There are many available to accommodate those who want to hear ‘smooth things’ and ‘have their ears tickled,’ but the Lord’s faithful will say with the Apostle Paul, “Necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel” (I Cor 9:16). “For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God” (Acts 20:27).

Wake-up, Pastors! Wake-up, Christians!
